Stop trying to get a diagnosis on Facebook.

Also….stop trying to get a diagnosis on Facebook!!

It’s what I’m [for the moment] calling “social diagnosing”.

I saw a graphic on Facebook today attempting to show the overlap between various mental disorders. Someone commented, confused, asking if the graph meant they had ALL the diagnoses.

This is not a question we need to be asking on social media. This is the level of confusion that people face daily when attempting to make medical heads or tails of random lay-person-generated memes on the internet. We should not be seeking out social diagnosing.

Do NOT go looking to Facebook or TikTok or any other form of social media to self-diagnose. Only a trained and licensed therapist can diagnose you. (See my two-part series on ADHD for more thoughts on self-diagnosing.1)

That is all. With much love.

P.S., This is not medical advice.
